Introduction

In celebration of four decades of academic collaboration between the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSK), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), the two institutions are proud to co-organize the 19th Indonesia–Malaysia Cultural Symposium (SKIM 2025).

This event also commemorates the 67th anniversary of FISIP Unpad and 19 years of the SKIM partnership. Carrying the theme “Navigating Challenges in the Global South: Socio-Cultural, Political, and Humanities Perspectives,” the symposium seeks to enrich academic discourse and foster cultural exchange in addressing the shared societal, political, and environmental challenges faced by countries across the Global South.

Objectives
  • To commemorate 40 years of academic cooperation between FISIP Unpad and FSSH UKM.
  • To strengthen academic networks and collaborative research between UKM, Unpad, and other partner institutions.
  • To address mutual issues between Indonesia and Malaysia through constructive intellectual dialogue.
  • To promote academic mobility and regional cooperation in social sciences and humanities.
  • To support early-career researchers in international engagement and scholarly communication.
